I hope everyone is enjoying the spectacular weather across Canada this summer. Travel and tourism are certainly on the rebound, despite rising costs and longer than anticipated wait times (if flying is part of your vacation itinerary).
I’d like to start by extending thanks to those who participated in our Annual Member Survey earlier this year. This feedback was crucial in determining future association activities. Based on the responses received, the board has noted the membership’s desire for more educational opportunities and regulatory updates. We are currently working on developing ways to increase our offerings in these two categories and thank you for your feedback.
To this end, we are excited to announce the return of our in-person Electroplating 101 course later this fall. Registration for this hot-topic program should be up and running on our website shortly. We have held the cost of participation to the 2019 levels and are expecting a large class so get those registrations in early!
Mark your calendars- CASF’s biennial conference, Stronger Together is just around the corner. This year’s conference will be taking place on November 16th, 2022, at the Hyatt Place Mississauga. Exhibitor opportunities for the upcoming conference are still open but spots are limited- do not hesitate! Registration is live on CASF.ca. Registration for the Electroplating 101 course will be coming soon! The date for this in-person session will be November 17th & 18th, following the fall conference.
CASF members are invited by the board to participate in the upcoming Annual General Meeting which will take place at the Hyatt Mississauga on November 15th at 1:30 pm. prior to our board meeting. Please email our CASF Secretary and Event Coordinator Brigette Roth [email protected] if you wish to attend.
We are pleased to share that CASF will be launching a bi-weekly newsletter starting in September. The newsletter will share regulatory updates, industry news, health & safety, operations information & more. We strongly encourage members to share this resource with their internal teams. To subscribe your employees or colleagues, please reach out to Srdjan Knezevic (Communications and Technology Chair) at [email protected] or Debbie Drak (Treasurer) at [email protected].
The CASF membership continues to grow! We are thrilled to announce the addition of a new member, McCol Metals. McCol will be participating in our fall conference. Please be sure to take the time to stop by their booth and say hello to Alicia Follett and her team.
Our organization’s financial health continues to be on solid ground, our insurances and taxes are all up to date, respectively.
I would like to take a minute of your time to thank the CASF Board and the membership for the opportunity to have served as President of the association for the past two years. The support that I received from our past presidents Robert, Mike, and Richard, my Vice President Stewart, the executive committee, board members, and our prospering membership has made it a pleasure to navigate through incredibly challenging times these past few years. To have been able to grow our membership during covid is a testament to the efforts of everyone! For this I am profoundly grateful and know that we will Emerge Together even stronger as an industry in 2023. The best is yet to come!
All the best,
Graham
